(More customer reviews)My wife bought my twelve year old son a pair from a local optometry shop with new prescription glasses. As soon as I saw this Oakley frame when we went to pick up the new glasses, I instantly said "such a poor mechanical design...I guarantee it will break easily right at the flimsy wire hinge." (I never imagined one pair breaking in THREE DAYS and another pair breaking in HALF A DAY. If one sees this frame, it is so obvious where it will break.) Since we already paid for the prescription lenses and this frame, and if we wanted to get a new frame, we will have to get new lenses, the owner insisted my son give it a try. He assured us it will not break. In fact, he said he wears similar "wire hinge" Oakley frame and it has not broken yet. My son wore this Oakley Capacitor framed glass for three days and it broke where I said it would. My son is not at all wild nor an athelete. He said he took it off and it broke. I brought it back to the shop and the owner said the frame my son got could be a defective unit and he will replace with the same frame. I told him "Oakley should recall this frame if the eye glass frame industry has the recall system like car industry." Anyway, giving benefit of doubt, I said we will give it a second chance. In a week my son got new but same Oakley frame. This time he wore half a day and it broke at the exact same spot. My son felt bad and was being apologenic. We finally got a different frame. Did the designer at Oakley who designed this frame consult any mechanical engineer? Does Oakley do any internal testing instead of testing with the public? I am talking about Oakley and over $300 retail prescription eyewear!
